Interfaces that hold up.

Currently available for projectsBerlin, Germany

I build websites, web applications and the APIs behind them, using React, TypeScript and Node.js. Before that I spent ten years planning buildings and running construction sites. It shows in the way I work: structure first, surface second.

About

Two professions, one method: work out what has to carry the load before anything gets built.

I hold a master’s degree in architecture and spent 2016 to 2021 planning and running construction projects — single-family houses, some eighty refurbishments across greater Berlin, and a mixed residential and commercial building of roughly 120 units near Alexanderplatz. I led teams, coordinated trades, and learned that a planning mistake costs ten times as much once the shell is up.

Since 2021 I have been building software. At Maltego Technologies I spent three years on an analysis platform for investigative work: React and TypeScript, complex data visualisation, network graphs with tens of thousands of nodes, and a design system that had to grow with the product. Close work with product, design and backend — the same coordination job as a construction site, with better coffee.

Today I work freelance on both: I build websites and web applications, and I design interiors alongside that. Both come down to the same question — how does someone move through this space, and where does something get in their way?

What I work with

Frontend

React, TypeScript, JavaScript, Vite, Next.js, Vue 3, MUI, Tailwind CSS

Backend & data

Node.js, Express, MongoDB, REST APIs, Serverless Functions

Tooling & delivery

Git, GitHub Actions, Netlify, Vercel, Figma, i18n, Technisches SEO

Services

Three ways we can work together.

Frontend engineering

Interfaces for products that need to keep growing. I build components that get reused rather than screens that fit once — design system, accessibility, and the small things that hurt later if skipped: keyboard operation, loading states, error cases, multiple languages.

  • React and TypeScript applications
  • Design systems and component libraries
  • Data visualisation and dashboards
  • Accessible, responsive implementation
  • Migrating and modernising legacy frontends

Fullstack & APIs

When the interface needs everything behind it too: data model, API, authentication, deployment. I take the whole path from database to button and keep the seams in between as narrow as possible.

  • REST APIs with Node.js and Express
  • Data modelling with MongoDB
  • Authentication and role concepts
  • Deployment pipelines with GitHub Actions
  • Integrating third-party services and APIs

Websites for freelancers and small brands

From first sketch to a site that is live, with one person to talk to. I help write the copy, build the site myself, and hand it over so you can maintain it without me. No page builder, no agency relay race.

  • Concept, structure and copy
  • Design and build
  • Multiple languages
  • Technical SEO and load times
  • Hosting, domain and handover

Denison Silva

Dancer, choreographer and dance teacher, Berlin

A portfolio site for a dancer whose work is hard to tell through still images. The hero sets his name as a stencil over moving footage, turning the type into a window onto the choreography. The rest of the page stays deliberately quiet so the video carries the attention.

  • Concept and design based on his résumé
  • Built as a single-page application
  • Three languages: English, German, Portuguese
  • Video hero with type used as a mask
  • Sections for work, video, references and contact

Studio von Boros

Own brand — interior design, Berlin

The premium counterpart to raumideenwerk: a separate brand for bespoke interiors and furniture. The site is reference portfolio and pitch in one — renderings and photographs of finished projects at large scale, little text, a clear price bracket. Deliberately built in Vue to keep a second stack sharp.

  • Building the brand alongside the existing business
  • Selecting and preparing the reference projects
  • Design and build of the website
  • Automated deployment via GitHub Actions

CaNa Hallenbau

Steel hall construction company

A WordPress presence that had grown across several domains, with duplicate content and no local SEO. I audited what was there, named the problems, and put two rebuild paths side by side: React or Next.js with a headless CMS, or a consolidated WordPress setup. The work ran alongside an SEO agency.

  • SEO and traffic audit across all domains
  • Analysis of domain structure and duplicate content
  • Stack comparison as a basis for the decision
  • Migration risks: redirect map, URL schema, analytics access
